Leaves: A Bedroom Design by Cagdas Yalman & Beril Karadayı

A Unique Blend of Nature and Modernity

The Leaves bedroom design stands out with its pureness, comfort, and harmony of form and color. The use of various materials, including copper, ceramic, concrete, linen, textiles, wood, and colored glass, adds a unique and attractive touch to the design. One notable feature is the unconventional use of tiles at the back of the headboard, adding a distinctive element to the bedroom. Additionally, the panel at the back of the TV unit enhances the overall charm of the room.

The realization of the Leaves design involved the use of Mutina Tiles' Tex for the wall covering behind the headboard. The headboard itself is made of a modular textile material that complements the tiles. Polished concrete was chosen for the flooring, adding a sleek and modern touch. Stained glass was used for the panel at the back of the TV unit, which also features hidden LED lights. Vertical walnut elements were incorporated in front of the panel, providing shelves for additional functionality.

Despite the challenges of introducing such a modern design in a cultural context like Turkey, the Leaves design successfully combines aesthetics and functionality. The meticulous attention to detail in solving the joint details between the glass panel, plinth, and door showcases the designers' technical expertise and creativity.

The Leaves bedroom design covers an area of 35 square meters, making it a compact yet stylish space for relaxation and rejuvenation. Its interior architecture was skillfully executed by Beril Karadayı, while Cagdas Yalman took charge of the design and photography.

This exceptional design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2016. The award celebrates designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life and making the world a better place.
